Location: Sydney CBD

Term: Full time

QBE Insurance Group is one of the world's top 20 general insurance and reinsurance companies, with operations in all the key insurance markets. We are listed on the Australian Securities Exchange and are headquartered in Sydney.

QBE’s actuarial division at present is going through a period of exciting change and growth and we are looking for motivated and enthusiastic candidates to join us on this journey. We have exciting opportunities available in our team to support both pricing and reserving initiatives and would suit someone who is interested in developing their general insurance experience across personal and commercial lines.

Working at QBE, we recognise the value of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and support a range of flexible work arrangements to promote a better family/life/work balance.

The opportunity

Initially you will be supporting pricing and reserving initiatives across the NSW CTP and professional indemnity portfolios, however, there is nothing stopping you from developing yourself into other product lines as well.

  • Document changes to calculations and procedures in a timely and clear manner
  • Know where to find data and how to link data structures to provide practical measures of business performance
  • Develop new monitoring and ad-hoc reports as required
  • Conduct regular reviews of pricing, valuation and reporting techniques
  • Draft reserving reports and pricing recommendations to be peer reviewed by a qualified actuary.

What does success look like?

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field is highly preferred
  • We are looking to hire a number of people in our actuarial team currently so we are open to varying levels of experience and knowledge across both pricing and reserving.

At QBE, you will be provided with a competitive remuneration structure and benefits, in an environment that offers support, and encourages career development and learning.

We offer a range of benefits and discounts including:

  • Study support for actuarial examinations
  • Paid parental leave (inclusive of paid superannuation during this time)
  • Secondment opportunities
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Paid volunteer leave
  • Purchased leave
  • Product discounts
  • Superannuation matching.

Applicants will be required to provide evidence of their eligibility to work in Australia, and at a minimum be required to undertake police and basic credit checks as a condition of employment.
