Commercial Underwriter, Financial Lines

Reporting to the National Commercial Manager, Financial Lines, you will drive profitable growth of the financial lines portfolio through a culture of service excellence and product innovation.

Key responsibilities/accountabilities:

  • In collaboration with distribution and other profit centre underwriters, identify opportunities to establish trading relationship with new producers to promote AIG’s Financial Lines capability and product suite to internal and external stakeholders
  • Play a role in identification, qualification, development and marketing of AIG’s Financial Lines products
  • Producer engagement: conduct regular visitations to principle trading partners to monitor portfolio results, provide training on AIG’s electronic trading platform (Transact) and provide updates, training on new and upgraded products
  • Promote service excellence by servicing allocated producers according to agreed KPIs including action underwriting referrals within delegated authority in accordance with profit centre guidelines
  • Undertake annual reviews to determine overall performance, opportunities for expansion and review of scheme parameters including terms and conditions.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven track record demonstrating strong sales skills together with a solid understanding of brokerage market as you will be a key point of contact for our broker panel
  • Analytical skills are required to manage the profitability of brokers in conjunction with the Financial Lines management and existing professional relationships with brokers would be beneficial
  • Proven track record in managing and developing broker relationships, highly collaborative approach and excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Insurance qualifications (ANZIIF Senior Associate or equivalent) and financial lines experience would be highly regarded.
