Business Development Manager Construction/General Insurance

About the business and the role:

The company is an established insurance brokerage seeking a dedicated Business Development Manager within the general insurance industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and closing new business opportunities across Sydney.

Experience across all areas of general insurance, with strength in construction related products, will be highly regarded.

The applicant will be energetic and goal driven to exceed their sales targets and be a technically astute individual and an exceptionally good networker as the role will require you to attend networking events and conferences.

This role would be suited to a go getter who loves networking, can source prospects, as well as work with leads and close sales and gets a kick out of exceeding budgets and getting the rewards that go with it.

Skills and experience:

Experience across all areas of general insurance, with strength in construction related products, will be highly regarded.

Essential skills/requirements:

  • Minimum five years’ general insurance broking experience
  • Prior experience in a BDM role is preferred, but not necessary
  • ANZIIF or NIBA education is well regarded
  • An enthusiastic approach to networking and strong relationship management skills
  • Passionate about creating and capitalising on new business opportunities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced and competitive environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Research new business opportunities, pipeline and follow through
  • Prepare and conducting professional presentations 
  • Liaise with staff, customers, industry associates and insurance intermediaries to ensure new business opportunities are identified and followed through to completion.
