Underwriting Operations Manager, Portfolio Solutions

AIG’s underwriters help to find insurance solutions for risks from a range of areas including life insurance, aviation, financial lines, casualty, environmental, catastrophic events, high net worth individuals, and boardroom liabilities.

Your contribution at AIG:

As a leader, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and/or ability to oversee programs and processes.  You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, and judgment, along with a risk mindset. Ultimately, you take ownership for key outcomes.

Key accountabilities/responsibilities:

eCommerce platform (‘Transact’) build and maintenance:

  • Develop and manage the annual Transact build schedule
  • Manage all Transact reference data changes
  • Liaise with Transact support manager and local/regional IT
  • Manage Transact Change Requests (CRs) and Enhancement Requests (ERs)
    • draft and document requirement description
    • sign off/approval of CRs/ERs
    • draft test scripts
    • conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

Underwriting agency (MGA) operations support:

  • Bordereaux management – including data validation and processing (in conjunction with AIG Operations team)
  • Liaison with AIG operations regarding automation initiatives
  • Liaison with AIG operations/AIG Shared Services (AIGSS) and AIG policy services and collections team to manage all aspects of manual policy processing.

Day-to-day operational management:

  • Provide underwriting support to SME underwriters and MGA underwriting account managers to ensure all bookings are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • On behalf of portfolio solutions, liaison with relevant AIG functional departments on operational matters including:
    • stamp duty and ESL queries
    • unallocated cash
    • receivables and policy cancellation processes
    • managing sanctions screening (OFAC) exemption applications.
  • Liaison with all AIG functional departments as required including claims, legal, risk, compliance and finance 

What we are looking for:

Professional/technical skills and experience:

  • More than 5 years’ general insurance experience
  • Proven experience within a similar role and industry
  • Sound understanding of general insurance
  • ANZIIF insurance qualification or equivalent would be highly desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal skills – particularly collaboration and engagement skills
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Self-starter with a good attention to detail
  • Sound communication skills – including written and verbal/presentation skills
