The opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has become available in the QBE workers’ compensation business as the Comcare Service Manager.

This role will be responsible for managing QBE’s Comcare claims management services for its self-insured clients in Victoria. You will be accountable to lead the Melbourne Comcare team, to deliver consistent and high quality claims services, ensure compliance with client and regulatory requirements and manage customer relationships.

You will be required to ‘think outside the box’ to deliver innovative claims management services to our self-insured client base.

  • Oversee the development of high quality case management plans for clients that stipulate goals and activities
  • Provide technical expertise and mentoring to assist the team development
  • Maintaining compliance with client and regulatory requirements, including responding to changes when required
  • Utilising internal and external contacts to identify best practice approaches and drive continuous improvement into the claims management practices in the team
  • Overseeing the technical approach of the team to ensure competence in decision making, litigation settlements and recoveries
  • Motivating and developing the team to deliver the required services and achieve client performance outcomes
  • Plan, manage and review performance of employees via annual performance review process
  • Maintain effective client relationships with the insured, claimant, regulators, service providers and other stakeholders.

What does success look like?

  • Industry knowledge - at least 3-5 years’ experience in insurance and at least one year of this spent in claims management
  • Claims management – a working knowledge and understanding of workers’ compensation and/or case management
  • Business acumen – strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Relationships - a proven track record of building relationships, communicating, negotiating and influencing at a senior level within the insurance industry
  • People management – the demonstrated ability to engage and lead a team
  • Customer – significant experience in managing client relationships and service delivery
