An excellent opportunity exists within QBE’s Group Risk team for a Senior Risk Manager to provide risk assurance covering the areas of underwriting and claims risk. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise to the divisional ERM teams, including providing challenge and support to the divisional RCAs driving both a quality and consistent assessment approach to ensure risk management is effective. You will work in a motivated and dynamic team and will gain valuable exposure to global senior stakeholders as well as the opportunity to lead an international initiative.

The opportunity:

  • Embedding and supporting the control assurance framework, including providing assistance on a timely and effective group-wide build and implementation (all functional areas). Provide structure and support on ongoing governance and reporting
  • Provide focused expertise over underwriting, claims and reinsurance risk and controls assessments (RCA) to ensure timely and accurate risk information to QBE Group and its key stakeholders
  • Partner with QBE divisional ERM teams to contribute to a robust risk culture and help drive overall risk-based approaches
  • Provide technical expertise to the divisional ERM teams. This includes working closely with the divisional ERM team to identify key risks; assess the effectiveness of the controls environment and drive overall divisional expertise
  • Build and maintain strong and effective relationships across three lines of defense, including the functional leaders, the ERM teams, internal audit and external experts
  • Leverage insurance and internal control expertise to help maintain a comprehensive global library of QBE’s key underwriting and claims risks and critical controls (across all functional areas), key metrics and minimum control assurance procedures

What does success look like?

We are looking for someone with strong insurance operations and risk experience, with a background in underwriting, claims and enterprise risk. Strong internal controls expertise including ability to advise the business on structuring and assessing the effectiveness of their control environment. You would possess exceptional communication and influencing skills along with the ability to provide leadership, technical guidance and manage strategic organisational change.
