Assistant Underwriter

Role: Assistant Underwriter
Location: Auckland
Term: Full-time

We are looking for a well-organised person who works well in a small team of underwriters and is able to develop strong relationships, internally and externally with our broker clients.

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in client service and administration, and the drive to work as part of a high-performing team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage portfolio of renewals in accordance with level of experience
  • Support underwriters with new business and renewals, and providing quotations in a timely and professional manner within agreed underwriting parameters and service standards
  • Administrative duties and tasks as required
  • Relationship development, including visitations where appropriate, with brokers
  • Positively contributing to the profitable growth of QBE’s liability/professional lines portfolio
  • Responding to enquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Develop and share knowledge of broker processes and procedures to strengthen our service delivery
  • Ownership of and involvement in team projects as required

 To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • A minimum of two years in insurance, ideally with some underwriting experience
  • An ability to prioritise tasks in order to meet deadlines
  • A hunger for team success
  • A passion for personal development
  • Excellent communication skills, problem-solving and process improvement experience
  • Relevant insurance or tertiary qualifications (desirable)
