State Manager Broker & Agency - NSW

  • Key role to lead and grow our commercial insurance business in NSW

Allianz Australia, Broker and Agency Division are dynamic, innovative and ‎successful. The broker and agency division is Allianz Australia largest distribution channel whose customers include commercial, corporate and international buyer groups throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Our commercial division works with a large network of brokers nationally. We offer a large number of products ranging from domestic business through to tailored commercial products.

This is a rare opportunity to lead our NSW commercial business. You will report into the National Manager – State Operations. This business underwrites and sells commercial insurance products through our broker and agents. You will lead a large team of underwriters, sales and account managers and service professionals.

Your key focus will be to lead the team, to not only continue to achieve above market growth, however also to ensure that they exceed our profitability targets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Sales and Customer Management. This includes being the primary point of contact/managing relationships for the NSW business. You will ensure customer relationship business plans are in place and delivering results
  • Customer Relationship. Lead and drive distribution and sales teams to deliver to sales and retention targets
  • Sales and Profit Management. Manage resources to achieve and exceed sales targets. In addition to this making sure that there is a strong pipeline of sales coming through. This will also include managing expenses
  • Sales Coaching. Strong focus on coaching employees to use appropriate sales and customer management techniques
  • People Development. Working closely with senior management to ensure career development plans/effective succession planning is in place. Fostering and making sure appropriate development opportunities are in place for individuals
  • Risk and Compliance. Ensuring all relevant compliance standards are met

To be considered for this role you will possess:

  • Solid experience within the general insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge in commercial insurance lines
  • Experience in strategic and financial planning including P&L responsibility. This will include reporting and analytical skills
  • Experienced people leader who enjoys a coaching and mentoring role
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship manager skills
  • Ability to plan, implement and manage change
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and or industry qualifications
